Smoothie of the Day: Spicy Mango

Mango is one of my absolute favourite fruits. Wonderful flavour  - only if they are ripe though! So make sure that you don't use a rock hard fruit - they can easily have a bit of a soapy taste.

Today I used up what was in my fridge....and then spiced it up cinnamon and nutmeg,  with an amazing result! Try it out.

Here we go with the ingredients for 1 portion

  • half a mango
  • half a banana
  • one small carrot or half of the big one
  • 200 ml of water
  • a good dash of cinnamon and nutmeg
  • a bit of lemon juice (bit less than half a lemon)

...absolutely delicious. The spices give a wonderful flavour, love it and this one will come on my favourites' list.

Smoothie of the Day: Orange Wake Up Call

Creamy, lovely colour and a very pleasant taste. Just right to start the day! Kaki or persimmon are available right now and just got to the supermarket shelves some days ago here...so perfect to make use of them, as long as they last!

Here are the ingredients for 1 portion:

  • half a kaki/persimmon fruit
  • a quarter of a banana
  • half the big carrot (or one small one)
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 50 ml coconut milk
  • 150 to 200 ml water
  • optional a tad of cinnamon

Smoothie of the Day: Sweet Carrot

I DO love mango, in particular when it meets coconut...they were just made for each other. At least in my mind.

Mango or pineapple in a smoothie always provides quite some sweetness  - good to offset it with veggies of some sort. I don't eat a lot of actual sugar...hence just eating mango seems almost too sweet for me meanwhile...funny how our taste can change !

What's your experience here?

Right - so here's the recipe (1 portion today....my man traveling, so no smoothie for him)

  • 1/2 carrot
  • 1/2 mango
  • A small handful of frozen raspberries
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 50 ml coconut milk
  • 150 ml water

Mix well and enjoy :-)

PS: Got a question in the Facebook Group the other day how to measure ingredients for a smoothie when you just have some stuff available at home.

So the simple answer is: when you got one portion of smoothie, the liquid is in the range of 150 - 200 ml, for 2 portions 300 - 400 ml.

Liquid can be water, coconut milk (max half of total quantity, unless you want a super...

Smoothie of the Day: Mango Dream

Well, it seems I'm running out of names...so they become a bit pathetic ;-) - if you know a better name, let me know.

Sunshine in my glass in the morning - appreciated that as I woke up to a REALLY grey and rainy day here.

Very simple and very tasty, so here we go (2 portions)

  • 1 (big) carrot
  • 1/2 mango
  • 1/2 apple
  • Juice of half a lime
  • 50 ml coconut milk
  • 250 - 300 ml water

Lovely colour and taste - bit on the light side, so don't necessarily expect that one to keep you full until lunch (if you have it for breakfast).

Great vitamin rush, which was sorely needed, as I got up earlier than usual today.

Enjoy!
