Going out with an IT engineer in my early days did the trick: I got into that brand new, emerging, exciting and at the time messy and fast business, almost directly after having finished my education. I loved the dynamic of it - stayed and worked my way up. Despite or maybe because of hearing on the first day: “You will never understand that”.
The perfect place for a great career and so after some years I finally served as a Director and a Member of the Board in a multi-national IT company, going through all the pains and joys of an incredibly fast growing business. Building new business areas, expanding and creating new business models for the flood of exciting products coming and juggling millions. Exciting!
All seemed perfect.
Then came the divorce. And the loss of my job.
So after almost ten moves, probably hundreds of business trips and 12 years later, I stood there as a single mum, with at the time two young children.
Re-orientation time. Finding the things that matter. And ways to master my life while raising children on my own.
So I found two partners and we launched and build up the first online magazine in the IT business – so again pioneering work.
Also exciting.
And extremely demanding.
As a result my energy reserves were drained. Each and every day. Working hard and long hours, taking children to school, supporting with homework, attending school functions, running the household and trying to keep us all fit and healthy.
Phew, just writing that up today makes me feel tired ;-).
And boy, I was tired. After our TV gave up I decided NOT to get a new one, as I believed it was the culprit for me falling asleep EVERY time when I decided to switch it on (and for me to switch off).
So my relaxing technique turned into reading instead of TV. I got myself a lovely beanbag, good books (partly for learning, hey, don't want to waste any time, right, partly just for pleasure) and started my relaxation program.
The first night I read I woke up with a jolt. The book had fallen on my face. Hmm, probably a hard day.
I quickly found out that my exhaustion was NOT related to the TV, but to my lifestyle. Which did not allow me to generate the energy that I required not only to survive, but to thrive.
Fast forward to today: After years of testing, trying out things, schemes and measures I found my personal four pillars of energy: Breath (when did you take your last REALLY deep breath?), Movement AND Rest, Mindset (wow, so much underestimated) and Food - or nutrition. What we put into our bodies matters. A lot.
So I started working on solutions. Those which were compatible with my life. After all there were not more hours a day suddenly.
I developed models which worked perfectly for me and allowed me to BE alive, to have the energy to follow my path and to be fit and healthy to enable me to do so!
Models which I started putting into Online programmes after realizing that I am not the only one in such a situation.
And this time I am finally in a place where my heart is. l am combining combining all the knowledge, experience, scars and joy that I have accumulated after almost 25 years of avidly juggling work, building up my own business, and at the same striving to be a great mum of my two wonderful (almost grown up) children to create Online Master Classes I am teaching now.
Not at all. I did not always succeed. But this is probably also where I learned the most. And even now it is still rather bumpy sometimes with supporting two young adults to find their own paths and building up the most exciting business of all I could experience so far.
I am happy to accompany you on part of your exclusive journey.
See you inside.
